About RueGrowing up, I hated my body:
At 7 jiggling my thighs in the mirror At 11 feeling bad about myself when friends wanted to play on the bathroom scale At 12 going on my first secret diet At 13 being told to dress to "hide my big tummy so boys would like me" Just before I entered my 20's something finally clicked, I'd been trying to hate myself skinny, only focusing on the "flaws" I saw and the negative things that I had heard. That was totally not working, I was 220 pounds, showing signs of diabetes, and could barely make it up a flight of stairs. From that moment on, I vowed to love myself and my body through the process of changing it and not to accept the mean things that I or anyone else said about it. Since then I've lost over 50 pounds of body fat and become a stronger and happier version of myself. I've made it my mission to help other people struggling with their weight or health learn that changing your life comes down to realizing that you and your body are playing on the same team and should work together on your well-being instead of fighting against each other. I strive to work with clients who want to lose weight or learn to make choices that will support health at every size. |
